‘Tis the Season

Well, it’s not the first time and I doubt it will be the last, but I’m out of sync.  This week is a combined activity.  We’ll be meeting at the church at 5:00 pm to go the Bishop’s Storehouse.  Dress warmly because some of the work will be in a freezer.  I’ll have to do Pow Wow registrations individually – keep an ear out for my call.

We’ll be meeting this week on Wednesday at the church a little earlier than usual – 5:30pm.  The mayor, judge and other civic leaders will be visiting to discuss city plans, answer questions and otherwise give us a good dose of civic duty.

At the same time I’ll be pulling scouts out to register  for January Pow Wow.  The registrations weren’t open last week as planned, but they went up on Monday.  I’ll have reports for  all boys on hand to make sure we don’t duplicate previous badges.

Dutch Oven Cooking and Pow Wow Registration

This week we will be meeting at the church at 7pm for opening exercises and then traveling either to the Gibbs’ or Mack’s house to get our Dutch Oven on.  We’ll also be registering boys for the District Pow Wow that begins in January.  Don’t forget your uniforms, and since we will be spending time outside, please dress warmly (we will have a fire, but you should be prepared to go without one)

What does 2013 look like?

November is upon us, which means we start giving serious thought to 2013 for scouts. We will meet this Wednesday to plan both the themes and events for 2013. Speaking of events, here are some upcoming events of note:

1. Nov 14 and Dec 2 – Boards of Review (concurrent with scouts, check out the reports page to see where you are at)
2. Nov 17 – Trail to First Class (if you need to work on advancement up through First Class rank, please join us!)
3. Dec 5 – Court of Honor (we have over 50 merit badges to award!)
4. Jan 12, 19 and 26 – Annual District Super Pow Wow (registration opens soon)

Here is a short clip of our last event in the West Desert.

Happy Halloween – Let’s Launch Some Pumpkins!

We will not be meeting on Wednesday due to the holiday. I hope everyone has a great Halloween.

Jason Kelsh and Jason Mack will be meeting at 7:00 pm on Thursday to complete the trebuchet project. I encourage any scout who can make the time to join us there.

Friday is our last overnight camp of the year. We will be heading to Blackrock Canyon and testing the trebuchet (pumpkins away!). Please plan on below freezing weather at night and layer appropriately. We will meet at the Mack’s at 3:00pm on Friday, departing at 4:00pm. We will return to the Mack’s between noon and 4:00pm on Saturday
